With the development of technology and social progress, people are paying more and more attention to the intellectual development of infants and young children. Various educational toys are springing up one after another, including electric and non electric ones, with thousands of types and varying quality requirements.

When people purchase toys, they often pay more attention to their playable functions and neglect their safety. Many toy quality issues are only taken seriously when accidents occur, but it is too late and have already caused harm to people, some of which may last for a lifetime.

In foreign countries and particularly developed countries, the safety of electronic toys is the most important. Regardless of certification, testing, research and development design, customer requirements, etc., the first consideration is safety, followed by the functions of toys, especially electric toys. Therefore, the safety protection of toys is the primary issue. In clause 3.6.2 of the European and American international standard "BS/EN 50088:1996", it is explicitly stipulated that thermal disconnection: a device that can limit the temperature of toys or their components by automatically disconnecting the circuit or reducing the current during abnormal operation, and is designed so that users cannot change its design value; In clause 3.6.3., it is explicitly stipulated that automatic recovery of thermal interruption: the thermal interruption of the connected circuit can be automatically restored after the relevant components have cooled down.

It is not difficult to see that the keywords mentioned above are "safety protection", "thermal disconnection", and "automatic recovery thermal disconnection", all of which are related to the safety control of electric toys' current heating. That is, the protection and control issues after overcurrent and over temperature.

In electric toys, they are mainly composed of electric motors, electronic control boards, power supplies (dry batteries, batteries, transformers, chargers), shells, and components. During the use of electric toys, due to improper use, there are often problems such as motor blockage, excessive temperature of the electric machine, short circuit heating of the battery, short circuit caused by damage to components on the electronic control board, and overheating caused by overcharging and discharging of the battery.

In terms of over temperature and over current protection for toys, glass fuses, temperature fuses, safety inductors, safety resistors, etc. were previously commonly used, but they were all used once and needed frequent replacement, unable to achieve the standard "automatic recovery of thermal disconnection" function, and poor design would have a negative effect.

Someone has designed and applied a bimetallic temperature controller, but the bimetallic temperature controller only affects temperature, and the thermal reaction is too slow. If you forget to turn off the power, the faulty circuit will be connected again to expand the fault. To achieve the goal of "automatic recovery of thermal interruption", applying "PPTC" for over temperature and over current protection is currently the best choice.
